After your early breakfast at 06:00Hrs, our driver will pick you up from your hotel in Nairobi and set off as you drive heading north to the Mt Kenya National Park. En-route you will have a stop brief stop to stretch your legs before continuing with your drive to arrive at Narumoru Park gate in the morning hours (alt 2400m). After completing the gate entry procedures, you drive further to Met station (alt3095 m) where you adventures begin in this trekker’s paradise as you start your short attempt at the Africas second highest mountain on a on a 3 hrs hike up to (Alt3800m). This hike though, is intended for anyone seeking medium physical fitness exercise to stretch their legs and experience this volcanic mountain up close – From its grassy plains to the alpine peaks and breathtaking views – You walk through lush, green low-lying forests, bamboo zones, and moorlands, past gurgling mountain streams, unspoilt and untouched wildlife, diverse landscapes and endemic plants. Its sheer beauty as you re-connects with nature and a perfect adventure day trip from Nairobi. The hike though does not necessarily aim at summit and is done in a day with our experienced professional Mountain climbing guide who will adjust the pace to the least experienced hiker; so expect it to be relaxing and leisurely.
Along the way you may be lucky to spot common wildlife species which includes: buffalo, elephants, black and white colobus and Sykes monkeys, rock and tree hyrax, white tailed mongoose, suni, black fronted duiker, mole rat, bushbucks, waterbuck and Elands. Animals rarely seen include leopard, bongo, giant forest hog, Suni antelope, Mt. Kenya mole rat, skinks(lizards) and over 130 bird species have been recorded. You will take some time to enjoy your picnic lunch boxes amidst breathtaking view as you enjoy your meal.
Later if you have some strength at this point; you may choose to proceed further around the crater rim, or you may opt to terminate your hike here and descent to your starting point. Your descent will be a little faster takes you to the starting point, where you reconnect with your driver depart to arrive in Nairobi early evening
