After breakfast, your journey begins as you embark on a four to five-hour drive to Akagera National Park. The road is mostly paved and in excellent condition until you reach the final stretch. Akagera National Park, spanning 100,000 hectares, is located in eastern Rwanda, bordering Tanzania. Since 2010, it has been managed by African Parks in collaboration with the RDB. This park showcases some of the most captivating savannah landscapes in East Africa, featuring open plains, woodlands, lakes, swamps, and grassy low mountains. In the last eight years, Akagera has undergone a remarkable transformation with the virtual elimination of poaching, leading to thriving wildlife. In 2015, African Parks reintroduced lions after a 20-year absence, and in 2017, they brought back the black rhinoceros.
In the evening, delight in a boat ride across Lake Ihema, where you can spot hippos and various bird species.
